When people are dying, football goes out of the window – Port Vale manager John Askey on the Coronavirus pandemic
Port Vale manager John Askey says that football has to take second-place as the world struggles to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak.
The Football League announced a suspension of fixtures until as least May as the country tries to prevent deaths from the pandemic.
Obviously when people are dying, football and everything goes out of the window and it’s about making sure everybody is safe…
Speaking to the official Port Vale website Askey commented: “I think for everybody, everything is all a bit surreal, nobody has experienced this before.”
The Vale manager continued: “We don’t really know what’s going to happen. When we finally do get back playing, we’ve got to finish the season off. Whether that’s in June, July or whenever.
“From everybody’s point of view, we all hope it doesn’t affect too many people.
