They are a good team – Cheltenham manager praises Port Vale
Cheltenham Town FC manager Michael Duff has praised the Valiants and called them a “good” team ahead of their match this weekend.
The Vale face a tough examination of their play-off hopes as they take on promotion contenders Cheltenham at a stadium where the Robins have recorded six straight wins this year.
They have a real identity in the way they play, so we know we are in for a tough game…
However, the Valiants will take heart from their excellent 3-1 FA Cup win earlier this season and recalling that fixture Duff told the local media: “I think it was a strange game to be honest. We dominated the first-half and they dominated the second-half. I don’t think anyone saw us conceding three goals in the second-half, but they are a good team.
“Popey, they put three good balls in the box and he did what he does. I am not sure if he’s available or not this weekend, but obviously Mark Cullen has come in and done well. They have a real identity in the way they play, so we know we are in for a tough game because we’ve played them twice and not beaten then.”

Duff also had praise for the Vale management team adding: “They’ll be going flat out , looking to close the gap on us no doubt. It has got tight, particularly with the top eight. John (Askey) has done a really good job. I think we are the two teams that have surprised most of the league this year because we were scrapping at the other end of the table.
“John has done a great job along with Dave Kevan, who I know really well from when he was assistant manager at Burnley when I went up there.”
