Port Vale fans’ Lorne Street stand donations reach £5,000 in 48 hours
Port Vale fans have already contributed over £5,000 towards a £100,000 Go Fund Me appeal for the club’s Lorne Street stand.
On Sunday afternoon, just 48 hours after the appeal was launched, the total was nearing £5,500 as fans responded to the appeal to raise money to complete the concourse in the incomplete section of the stand.
John King of the Supporters club posted an update commenting: “The fundraising has now passed £5,000 in less than 48 hours. What great fans we have, and what an achievement. On behalf of the Port Vale Supporters Club, thank you to everybody that has donated and shared the cause.”
About the Stand Together Initiative
The club announced that popstar Robbie Williams would be playing a charity concert during the summer. To meet safety requirements for the gig, the club are installing seats into the unfinished half of the stand. However, it would cost a further £100,000 to renovate the concourse area so that the stand could be used next season. With the club’s owners having other spending priorities for existing areas of the stadium, the Supporters Club have launched this appeal to raise the £100,000 which would finally complete the stand. The Lorne Street stand has been incomplete for 22 years.
