The Valiants made one change from the side which defeated Exeter City with Mitch Clark replacing the ill Cristian Montano. It was Clark who helped open the scoring with the goal eventually credited as a Salford own-goal. However, the visitors equalised on 75 minutes with a goal from Tom Elliott.
