Port Vale contract extensions – Askey looking to sign-up “five or six” more before end of season
Port Vale manager John Askey has given a hint that the club is intending to sign up more key players on extended deals before they run out at the end of the season.
Vale have recently extended the deals for David Worrall and Scott Burgess until 2022 – but the likes of James Gibbons, Nathan Smith, Leon Legge, Cristian Montano and Luke Joyce will all be out of contract at the season’s end. Joyce has already given a strong indication that he will renew his deal.
We’ve probably got about five or six we’re looking to sign up again for next season…
The moves to secure the players on long-term deals has been welcomed by fans and Askey told the media: “We’ve probably got about five or six we’re looking to sign up again for next season so hopefully before the end we’ll get a decent squad together before the summer. Then we can look at players from other clubs.”
