Port Vale confirm that key player has agreed new contract
Port Vale FC have confirmed that David Worrall has agreed a new two-year contract which will keep him at the club until 2022.
Worrall has been in fine form this season and is a contender to be the Port Vale player of the season. The new contract signing will hand the club a major boost and could encourage more of the club’s out of contract players to commit their futures to the Valiants.
Worrall was one of a number of players – including Nathan Smith, James Gibbons, Leon Legge, Cristian Montano, Scott Burgess and Luke Joyce – who are all out of contract at the end of the current season.
The 29 year-old Worrall was signed by then Vale manager Michael Brown in 2017 and has now made 106 appearances scoring eight times.
Port Vale manager John Askey told the club’s official website: “David’s done well since I’ve come in. He shows a really good appetite for the game, he’s been consistent with his performances and he’s still only 29!
“He’s still got a quite few years left in him and I think he’s a good signing for the football club. He’s the one who very often sets us off with his energy to close down and those are the type of players you want.”
