Further boost for in-form Port Vale as midfielder regains fitness
Port Vale say that on loan midfielder Jake Taylor is set to take part in full training this season as he recovers from his injury setback.
Taylor has extended his loan spell until the end of the season but was injured in January shortly before extending his deal. The Nottingham Forest youngster had a terrific first-half of the season scoring seven goals and earning a regular starting place. His form was such that the Valiants made two unsuccessful bids to sign the 22 year-old on a permanent basis.
However, given Port Vale’s recent fine form, the urgency for Taylor to return to the starting XI has lessened with Scott Burgess and Tom Conlon already keeping Manny Oyeleke out of the side.
Nevertheless, Taylor’s return will mean that John Askey potentially has plenty of options in central midfield for the crucial end-of-season run-in.
Central Midfield Strength
John Askey has plenty of options in central midfield. They include:
- Luke Joyce (33 appearances / 1 goal)
- Scott Burgess (21 appearances / 2 goals)
- Tom Conlon (19 appearances / 1 goal)
- Manny Oyeleke (4 appearances / o goals)
- Jake Taylor (18 appearances / 5 goals)
- Will Atkinson (11 appearances / 1 goals)
The above stats are for League Two matches only
