Watch this space – manager on potential Port Vale loan deal
Wrexham manager Dean Keates told the local media to “watch this space” regarding the possibility of extending Kieran Kennedy’s stay at the National League side.
Defender Kennedy joined Wrexham on loan in November after failing to establish himself in the Port Vale starting line-up but his loan agreement ended after Saturday’s defeat to Aldershot.
Kieran… we will watch this space, I don’t know what will happen with that one…
He has been a regular starter for the Welsh side and with his contract at Vale expiring in the summer, Kennedy is keen to extend his stay telling the local media: “I will have to speak to the gaffer here, and obviously speak to the people back at Port Vale, but I’d like to stay and help get the team out of trouble.”
Vale may be open to extending Kennedy’s loan spell or even agreeing a premature end to his 12 month contract and Wrexham manager Dean Keates certainly seemed keen to see the defender stay.
The manager told the local press: “A couple of loans have come to an end. Kieran … we will watch this space, I don’t know what will happen with that one.”
Kennedy joined the Valiants in the summer but has made just four appearances – including one in the Football League – as he found it hard to dislodge regular central defensive duo Nathan Smith and Leon Legge. The 26 year-old had previous spells with Vale manager John Askey at both Shrewsbury Town and Macclesfield Town.
