Port Vale’s Tom Pope apologises for tweet
Port Vale have issued a club statement in which striker Tom Pope has apologised for an alleged anti-semitic tweet.
The statement reads
Further to enquiries regarding the tweets posted by Tom Pope over the weekend, the club has received communication from the FA requesting Tom Pope’s observations.
The club is also conducting an internal investigation in parallel with the FA.
The following statement has been written by Tom Pope:
“Following the reaction to my response on Twitter about the Rothschilds, I was unaware of any link between the Rothschild family and the Jewish community.
“If I have caused offence to anyone, I’d like to apologise enormously as this was never my intention.”
