Not as fluid as we were – Port Vale manager’s verdict on draw with Crawley
Port Vale manager John Askey said his side were “not as fluid” and needed more movement during the goalless draw with Crawley Town.
The Valiants were grateful to goalkeeper Scott Brown at times during the game and Askey also paid tribute to the veteran.
I just think we need to control the game for longer periods, that’s the main thing. A little bit more movement from players, the movement we were having early on in the season…
Speaking after the game, Askey told the media: “He saved three one-on-ones, through our mistakes really. He did well. I don’t know whether it was poor finishing or good goalkeeping but it’s nice because, when they are through like that, you think it’s a goal.
“We had our chances. Jake has had three maybe four chances and he’s not got hold of it either.
“We had spells where we started to play the football that we can play, but obviously there were spells where we didn’t do so well.
“I just think we need to control the game for longer periods, that’s the main thing. A little bit more movement from players, the movement we were having early on in the season. We are not as fluid as we were. But you hit patches like that during the season.”
