Have your say now on the dedicated match forum threadIt’s a much better game to watch when both sides go all out to win. Smith,Gibbons and Worrall stood out for me and Popey had enough chances to get himself another hat-trick. Broom and Addai both impressed for Cheltenham but the officials were once again woeful.
For Us All
It was an enjoyable game. Pope or Smith MOTM for me.

Smith MOTM for me without a doubt. Immaculate performance.

Excellent game of football today and both teams played a part in that. Gibbo man of the match for me. Great seeing Wozza back. Joyce was sublime controlling the midfield and spraying passes with pinpoint accuracy. Smith and Legge were strong on defence and for the first time for some while Amoo had a good game. Pope and Cullen missed gilt edged chances otherwise we would have won by three or four. Totally enjoyable game. The Vale are back and we have a club and team to be proud of.

Thing with Smith is, he’s so consistently good you tend to just take if for granted. Entertaining game really with both sides going for it. We didn’t lose… so on to Christmas in good spirits.

All, aside from Monty, had decent games today. Pope played as well as I’ve seen him play for a while in his hold up, linking and movement. Problem was today that the gilt edged chances we created today weren’t ‘Pope type’ chances. Our best creative moves today were from fast and low crosses. Cullen would certainly have put at least 1 that fell to pope away. Way the cookie crumbles I guess.

Hard earned draw against a top three team who don’t let goals in especially away from home,we would have got nothing from that game last season.

We’re as good as pretty much any other side in the League bar the odd shocker we’re capable of having. But we just don’t have enough goals in the squad to be a genuine play-off contender. I wonder if going old school 4-4-2 and starting Cullen alongside Pope might help with this, although then we obviously lose a player in midfield which can be a problem. But at Vale Park it’s worth trying. Worrall and Amoo or Browne on the wings with Taylor offering legs alongside Joyce in midfield.

Unlucky today… second-half was far better than the first and we had two or three great chances to win the game against the team 3rd in the league who are very difficult to break down
Iron Curtain
Should have won that, just couldn’t get the final shot or final pass or final touch right today, mega frustrating. Performance still light years ahead of anything we saw last season.
