A good move for both parties – Port Vale make bid for Nottingham Forest player
Port Vale manager John Askey has told the Sentinel newspaper that the club are keen to sign midfielder Jake Taylor on a permanent basis.
Askey told the newspaper: “We have shown our interest to Nottingham Forest in trying to take him, so we are just waiting to hear from Forest.
I would try to take him. I think he would be ideal for the football club. He is the right age and he has the chance of progressing if he stays with us…

Taylor has impressed since joining on loan at the start of the season and is out of contract at the Championship club in the summer.
The midfielder has been a regular starter in the Valiants midfield and has contributed six goals in 21 appearances so far this season.
Vale have been boosted by the expected income from the FA Cup tie with Manchester City and also appear to want to avoid being burnt again in the January window.
In recent years, attempts to extend loan spells for the likes of Alex Jones and Tom Anderson have resulted in their parent clubs agreeing deals with rival clubs instead.
Askey’s comments appear to suggest that Vale are prepared to make a long-term commitment for a player that they clearly rate and feel has a long-term future at Vale Park – something that Forest cannot guarantee at the moment. The Valiants will also hope that the promise of regular first-team football at a club looking at an upwards momentum is a better draw for the player than a spell as a squad player at a higher level.
