Getting better with each game – Port Vale manager praises young midfielder
Port Vale manager John Askey has praised midfielder Scott Burgess for seizing his opportunity at Vale Park.
Burgess was not in the squad at the start of the season but after injuries to Tom Conlon and Manny Oyeleke he has impressed in the engineroom.
He has more than done us a job he has come in and he is getting better with each game…
Askey told the Sentinel newspaper: “I knew he had ability and he was perfect for the squad, and the budget as well.
“He has come in and done really well. The two of them (Burgess and Taylor) give us that energy. He is only going to improve. He has the ability, he just needs at times to toughen up a little bit.
“But I knew he is one that you can put in the squad and he isn’t going to cause any trouble. So, he was perfect for what we were trying to do.
“I think we all thought that Manny and Tom Conlon and Joycey were probably going to be the main three, but I knew he would do us a job. He has more than done us a job he has come in and he is getting better with each game.
Hopefully he can continue with his energy because he and Jake make a big difference to us.”
