Enjoy – Port Vale manager gives advice to stand-in full-back
Port Vale manager John Askey has praised Cristian Montano after his switch to left-back.
Montano has moved into the defence to cover for an injury to regular left-back Adam Crookes.
I would say he has looked better at left back then when he was playing left wing at the start of the season…
Askey told the media: “I knew he had played full back and done quite well previously. When we put the squad together that was one of the thoughts that, if Adam wasn’t playing particularly well or got injured, then Monty could slot in there. He has responded really well.
“I would say he has looked better at left back then when he was playing left wing at the start of the season.
He has gone in and is playing well so should enjoy it. The main thing is the team is winning and not conceding goals while he is playing at left back. But I know with Monty that, wherever I put him, he will give 100 per cent.”
