Stevenage boss pays tribute to Port Vale after draw
Stevenage manager Mark Sampson said Port Vale “are a real clever team when they play at home” as he welcomed the 1-1 draw at Vale Park on Saturday.
Stevenage did enough to merit a point after a disappointing Vale performance and Sampson told the media: “The character of the team was outstanding. This is a difficult place to come, they are unbeaten at home for a reason.
“To concede the first goal, it showed our resilience and character to come back in it. I thought we were excellent for large parts of the game.
“If you look at our last few games, although results have improved, I think there has been a fair criticism that in the last 30 minutes of games we have eased off a little bit and absorbed pressure. But today was the complete opposite.”
