Port Vale loanwatch – one win and one loss in FA Cup qualifying
Here’s our regular round-up of how Port Vale’s five loaned out players are performing at their clubs this season.
Cup joy for Joe Berks
Port Vale midfielder Joe Berks (pictured above) played 82 minutes as Stafford Rangers won their FA Cup third qualifying round game against Kidderminster Harriers 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
Tricket-Smith gets game time in cup loss
Dan Trickett-Smith played 86 minutes of Curzon Ashton’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Blyth Spartans. Trickett-Smith was close to playing a key role as his late shot appeared to hit an arm in the box but no penalty was awarded.
Market Drayton Town are thrashed
There’s no team line-up so we don’t know if he played, but Lucas Green-Birch’s Market Drayton team had a nightmare time on Tuesday night. Having lost their manager 24 hours earlier, the side went down to a 7-0 loss to Loughborough Dynamos.
Loaned out Hurst makes Vale debut
One of the quirks of the Football League Trophy competition is that players loaned out to non-league sides can play in the tournament (presumably as there is no danger of the player participating in non-league getting cup-tied). So Vale were able to call upon Alex Hurst, on loan at Bradford Park Avenue on Tuesday evening and the player made his Vale debut coming on as a sub in the 3-2 win over Macclesfield Town.
No game for Campbell-Gordon due to postponement
Ryan Campbell-Gordon didn’t play for Ilkeston Town this weekend as their fixture was cancelled due to their opponents being in cup action.
