John Askey praises Port Vale pair

Port Vale manager John Askey have reserved praise for defender James Gibbons and forward David Amoo after the win over Cambridge United.

Vale won 1-0 after Amoo’s cross caused chaos with the goal credited as an own-goal.

After the game, Askey commented: “He did great. James Gibbons did as well he sidestepped someone and then fed David in, and then all of a sudden he exploded into life. You want him to do that more really.

“Sometimes you get frustrated because you can see how good he is and what he can do. But it was fantastic, that is what people want to watch, they want to see the wideman going past the full back and pulling the ball back. That is how you get goals.”
