Fixture history: Port Vale and Cambridge United
A look at previous meetings between the two sides ahead of the weekend game…
LAST TIME
The last meeting between the two sides was in February 2019 when Cambridge ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a strike from David Amoo, who will be lining up in Vale colours on Saturday.
The lat fixture at Vale Park ended in 3-0 win for the Valiants back in August 2018. Tom Pope scored twice, including a penalty while Ricky Miller (right) scored on his Port Vale debut.
OTHERS
The first meeting between the two sides was in September 1973 when it ended in a 2-1 win for the Valiants.
The Valiants’ worst defeat wasn’t too long ago. Vale were hammered 5-0 on the final game of the 2017-18 season by a Cambridge side featuring future Valiants Leon Legge and David Amoo.
Vale’s best win came in 2001 when they thumped Cambridge 5-0 at Vale Park. The scorers that day were Micky Cummins, Ian Armstrong, Chris Killen (2) and Steve Brooker (pictured left).
