John Askey hints at deal for trialist Alex Hurst
Port Vale manager John Askey has praised trialist Alex Hurst and hinted that the player could earn a permanent deal at Vale Park.
19 year-old Hurst has featured in Port Vale’s last two friendlies and the left-sided player offers cover on the left side of defence and midfield.
Hurst joined Bradford Park Avenue from Northern Premier League Premier Division side Matlock Town in October 2018 after beginning his career in the Crewe youth ranks.
Askey commented: “Alex has done well again, he did well when we played Nottingham Forest. He has a lot of ability. He is only just 19 so he is one that might be worth having a punt on. But he is a Bradford player at the moment so we would need to speak to them.
“It would be nice to be able to give him the opportunity but it depends on Bradford.”
