Two club statements confirmed the signings commenting:
Port Vale sign Ryan Lloyd
Port Vale are pleased to announce the signing of Ryan Lloyd on a one-year deal, with the midfielder set to join the club when his contract expires at Macclesfield Town.
Having progressed through the youth system at Vale Park, Newcastle-under-Lyme born Lloyd is a name that supporters will be familiar with.
Despite making a handful of appearances for the Valiants during his initial six-year stay, he joined Macclesfield in 2017 and he was a regular fixture in John Askey’s side that won the National League title in 2018.
Now reunited with his former boss, the 25-year-old is looking to impress him once more and his addition adds more competition for places in Vale’s midfield ahead of the new Sky Bet League Two campaign.
Port Vale sign Mark Cullen
Port Vale are delighted to announce that Mark Cullen has agreed to join the club on a one-year deal following the conclusion of his contract at Blackpool, and the striker will now link up with his new teammates for the pre-season preparations.
The 27-year-old arrives at Vale Park with a wealth of experience in the Football League having represented the Tangerines amongst the likes of Luton Town and Bradford City, and he will be hoping to impress in a Vale shirt.
Cullen’s most famous goal for Blackpool came back in May 2017 when he fired in the decisive goal in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final victory over Exeter City, with his 64th-minute strike sealing a 2-1 victory for the Tangerines who won promotion to the third tier.
His career began with Hull City where he progressed through the youth system, and after he scored 27 goals for youth team in 2009/10, he was given his first team debut in an FA Cup defeat to Wigan Athletic.
The striker went on to make a handful of appearances for the Tigers in the top flight, scoring one Premier League goal which came during his first start, also against Wigan Athletic.
With fellow forward Richie Bennett also making the switch to the Potteries last week, the Valiants’ attacking department has now been strengthened ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, and John Askey is still working hard to bring in more reinforcements.
