Former Vale player Chris Banks returns as head physio
Former Port Vale defender Chris Banks is returning to Vale Park as the club’s new physio.
The club’s current physio Alex Poulton will act as Banks’ deputy.
Banks progressed through the club’s youth ranks to make 87 appearances between 1984 and 1988. He helped the club to promotion in 1986. He later had lengthy playing spells with Bath City and Cheltenham Town.
Banks qualified as physio and has had a lengthy spell at neighbours Stoke City.
Vale manager John Askey told the media: “Chris is coming from Stoke as the head physio and Alex who was with us previously, will work under him.
“I am really pleased with the people who are here. There is only me and Dave (Kevan) who has come in then Chris who has played for the club before so hopefully we can create a good atmosphere behind the players and the players will feel that.
“Chris has played for years, he has a feeling for the football club as well. I think he was 12-and-a-half years at Stoke so he has great experience and the players will be confident in Chris.
“It is an important part of the football club, especially nowadays, it is important you have somebody who has that football expertise.”
