Port Vale sign Bury youngster
Port Vale sign Scott Burgess: Bury midfielder Scott Burgess is their first new signing of the summer.
Burgess, who played for Port Vale boss John Askey while at Macclesfield Town during the 2-17-18 season, has agreed a one year deal.
The midfielder was a product of the Bury youth system and made his first-team debut in 2014. He turned professional in 2015 and was loaned out to a number of clubs to gain first-team experience. He also made 23 appearances for Bury scoring two goals.
Burgess was offered a permanent contract by Wrexham, where he spent his latest loan spell, but he rejected that move in favour of reuniting with John Askey at Vale Park.
Reacting to the signing, Manager John Askey told the Port Vale FC official website: “He’s a player that I’ve had before and he’s a good lad. He’s got the potential to break into the first team so hopefully, he can do that.
“We’re giving him a chance to show that he’s got what it takes to perform in a Vale shirt and find the form he’s showed at previous clubs. Hopefully he can make the breakthrough.”
