Former Port Vale loanee is released by West Brom
Former Port Vale loanee Kyle Howkins is one of a number of players to be released by Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
Howkins spent a successful spell on loan in 2017-18 until it was ended prematurely through a knee injury.
The Vale maintained an interest in the defender as he recovered from injury. He returned to the Valiants this season for a second loan spell in January 2019.
However, Howkins made just three appearances during his second spell as Vale waited for the centre-half to recover match fitness following his injury.
The giant centre-half made a total of thirteen appearances for the Valiants during his two spells scoring once.
John Askey may be interested in making a move for Howkins following his release. Earlier this season, Askey indicated he was potentially interested in signing all three loanees – Mitch Clark, Adam Crookes and Howkins on a permanent basis.
Come to Port Vale and… get released!
All three of Port Vale’s most successful loan signings last season have now been released by their clubs.
- Mitch Clark: released by Aston Villa
- Adam Crookes: released by Nottingham Forest
- Kyle Howkins: released by West Brom
