Port Vale manager: the future of the club needs sorting out as soon as possible
Port Vale manager John Askey says that future of the football club needs to be clarified as soon as possible.
Port Vale was plunged into crisis when owner Norman Smurthwaite said the club would enter administration if a takeover deal was not agreed by the 5th May. Subsequently, local business Synectics Solutions have entered into an exclusivity agreement.
It is paramount to the football club that it gets sorted…
Askey told the Sentinel newspaper: “It is paramount to the football club that it gets sorted. Whether Norman stays or Carol comes in, we need to sort it one way or the other as soon as really. It is more about the football club than me.”
“If it drags on then you fall behind the rest of the clubs. At the moment we could take advantage of it because teams are either worrying about going down or they don’t know whether they are going to go up or not. So, they are not sure what players to bring in.
“If the club makes a decision then at least we can get ahead of the game.”
