Port Vale manager says former skipper is a good influence in training
Port Vale manager John Askey says Carl Dickinson is “good to have around the place” after he joined the Valiants in training.
Dickinson is out of favour with his club Yeovil and being based close to Burslem, he has joined his former teammates in training. However, FA rules would prevent the former Port Vale skipper from signing for the club.
He is another good example of a good pro, that’s why we have got him in…
However, manager Askey says the former player has been a positive telling the media: “With him being a natural left footer and left back he helps with training, and I know with Carl that he does everything right and he is good to have around the place.
“He is another good example of a good pro, that’s why we have got him in.
“He asked if he could come and train so we thought it would be a good idea to get him in. He increases the tempo of training a little bit when he makes one or two tackles. That’s what you want, you want people going at it 100 per cent and he does. He lets one of two know he’s about.”
