Tom Pope on 100 goals: I can’t put into words what it means to me
Tom Pope said it was a “great achievement” to reach one hundred goals for the club and it was “something to tell the grandkids.”
Pope reached the milestone during Saturday’s win over Northampton Town. The striker came off the bench to score Vale’s winning goal from the penalty spot.
I can’t put it into words really how much it means. It’s one of those things that I will think about in years to come…
After the game he told the official Port Vale website: “It’s a great achievement and as I said before, to have scored one goal for the club I’ve supported was a dream come true – it was all I ever wanted to do.
“To get to 100, I can’t put it into words really how much it means. It’s one of those things that I will think about in years to come rather than now because we have another game next week and I can’t brag about it just yet.
“It’s something to tell the grandkids.”
