Supporters chief urges fans to be twelfth man

Mark Porter, chair of the Port Vale Supporters Club, says that away fans can be the “twelfth man” at Notts County.

Vale face a crucial game against their League Two relegation rivals.

Porter told attendees at a Supporters Club meeting: “We want as many fans to travel and be the 12th man for the team, and also wear your black and gold.”

The Supporters Club are backing protests against owner Norman Smurthwaite and Porter added: “I think the protests are highlighting that fans are unhappy with the way the club is being run.

“We have gone backwards year on year and are facing football oblivion, fans are trying to highlight that and, if we could attract a buyer, the club and Burslem would benefit.”
