According to a Twitter account, Port Vale are interested in signing Crawley Town midfielder Josh Payne.
The Twitter account EFL Hub @efl_hub says that Cheltenham Town and Port Vale are both interested in the 28 year-old midfielder.
Former West Ham and Oxford United player Payne is out of contract in the summer and after scoring five times in 39 games last season, he has made 22 appearances this campaign.
The experienced campaigner is closing on 300 Football League appearances.
Vale appear to be interested in adding another central midfielder after almost agreeing terms with Northern Ireland U21 International Mark Sykes. However the Glenavon player opted for a move to Oxford United instead.
However, it should be noted that football gossip on Twitter is notoriously unreliable and this could simply be another made-up rumour.
