Tyrone Barnett: I was non-existent at Port Vale
New Cheltenham Town signing Tyrone Barnett says he’s grateful for a move which allows him to play football again.
Barnett was out in the cold at Vale Park after being transfer-listed in the summer before he secured a loan deal with the Robins. The move was made permanent a few days ago.
I had not played at all, I was non-existent when I came here, so from the beginning I was grateful for the opportunity…
The veteran striker told the local media that prior to his move: “I had not played at all, I was non-existent when I came here, so from the beginning I was grateful for the opportunity. I just want to repay that for the guys who have put their trust in me, as a thank you to give me the chance for carrying on playing.”
The striker added: “Originally I just wanted to enjoy football because at that period I wasn’t enjoying it at all. I had a non-existent pre-season, so it was about getting fit and to try and play as many games and score as many goals.
“Obviously I am very happy and glad it’s sorted. From day one since I came here I have felt like a Cheltenham player, so it’s now official.”
Barnett played 28 games scoring twice for the Valiants.
