Port Vale manager says that a new contract for Tom Pope is his top priority
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has said that agreeing a new contract with key striker Tom Pope is “number one” on his list.
Pope is out of contract at the end of the season and Aspin is very keen to secure the future of the club’s top scorer.
Aspin told the Sentinel newspaper: “We can talk about other players but Popey has to be the number one person that I need to get sorted out.
“So, I am probably reluctant to sign any other player until I have sorted out Tom.
“I am hopeful with Tom. I have spoken to him so I am hoping that we can get that resolved over the next few days.”
