In-form Port Vale midfielder hails coach Danny Pugh
Cristian Montano has thanks the Vale management and coaching staff for giving him “confidence” and has singled out the contribution of new coach Danny Pugh.
Montano has now hit five goals for the season with all his goals coming in his last four appearances for the Valiants.
The winger has hailed the influence of former team-mate Danny Pugh who has moved into the coaching team this season.
Pughey’s made a big impact. He played with us last year and still plays now… he’s played at the highest level and he knows his stuff. It’s good to have someone like him around to give me the confidence as well.
Montano told the official Port Vale website: “I would say the belief and the confidence the gaffer has given me, and to be fair to the coaching staff and even Pughey himself who speaks to me a lot, they remind me what I’m capable of doing.
“It gives me a lot of confidence, every time in training and even before games Pughey speaks to me a lot. It’s the mentality going into the games, and the way we’re playing. I’ve got to say that the lads, for the goals I’ve scored, have worked the ball well to get into the areas we’ve got into. I’ve made the right run and luckily it’s gone in.
“Pughey’s made a big impact. He played with us last year and still plays now. He trains with us as it helps with coaching, the experience he’s got because he’s played at the highest level and he knows his stuff. It’s good to have someone like him around to give me the confidence as well.”
