Port Vale winger says team was sloppy against Mansfield Town
Port Vale winger Luke Hannant says the side was a “bit sloppy in the final third” during their 1-0 defeat to Mansfield Town.
Vale finished with ten men as they went down to a 1-0 defeat but Hannant is convinced that the side can bounce back.
We need to create more opportunities. We got into a few good positions today to maybe put the final ball in, but it just hasn’t been there…
Hannant commented: “We need to create more opportunities. We got into a few good positions today to maybe put the final ball in, but it just hasn’t been there.
“We were a bit sloppy in the final third, but that’s not just down to the strikers, it’s the people around them too. Everyone has got to pull together to create the chances. We’ve been very good defensively recently, but it’s got to work at both ends and that’s something that we’ll work on in training.
“There’s a good group of lads here with some experienced heads in there too, so they will help get around the younger players and help get our heads back up. We have a strong enough mentality and character within the team to put it right next weekend. I’m sure everyone will work hard in training this week and put this performance behind us.”
