Port Vale to face Stoke City U21 side in Checkatrade trophy
Port Vale have been handed a controversial “derby” game against Stoke City’s U21 side in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Many are unimpressed with the introduction of U21 sides to the Football League Trophy competition and will believe playing the Stoke youngsters in a competitive fixture will only confirm how the integrity tournament has been damaged by Football League tinkering. Port Vale will host the Under 21’s of local rivals Stoke City in Round Two of the Checkatrade Trophy.
Vale secured the opportunity for a home tie after beating Walsall 2-1 on Tuesday evening, making it three wins out of three in the group stages.
