Port Vale goalkeeper agrees permanent transfer to Wrexham
Rob Lainton joins Wrexham: Port Vale goalkeeper Rob Lainton has completed a permanent move to National League side Wrexham.
Keeper Rob Lainton was transfer-listed in the summer and was loaned to Wrexham at the start of the season after Vale brought in Scott Brown as their new number one.
An official Port Vale FC club statement said:
Port Vale Football Club can confirm that Rob Lainton has left the club to join Wrexham on a permanent deal after a loan spell with the Vanarama National League side.
Lainton made the move to Vale Park in the summer of 2017, but injury problems meant he was only able to make seven appearances during the 2017/18 campaign.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper then joined Wrexham on loan before the start of the current season, and he has been an ever-present figure in Sam Ricketts’ team, keeping 12 clean sheets in 21 games.
After impressing in his new surroundings, Lainton will now link up with his teammates at the Racecourse Ground and all at Port Vale would like to wish him the best for the future.
