Key Port Vale player cleared to play in FA Cup tie
Aston Villa have confirmed that loanee Mitchell Clark can play in Port Vale’s FA Cup first round tie against Sunderland.
Clark has been an influential performer since joining on loan from Villa. The Welsh youngster has made seventeen appearances since joining on a season-long loan deal.
Vale were concerned that Clark could be recalled by his parent club in January and if so, Villa may not want to have the defender cup-tied.
However, according to Vale manager Neil Aspin, Clark has received permission to play in the Sunderland game.
It is a welcome boost as Clark’s energetic wingback displays have been a key feature of the club’s recent good form.
