Big blow for Port Vale as manager reveals six players have suffered injuries
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says four of his squad are ruled out through injury while two other players have missed training because of knocks.
The news is a blow for the Valiants who have benefitted from a settled line-up in recent weeks.
The injured players include:
- Midfielder Manny Oyeleke who has been ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury
- Defender James Gibbons who is to see a specialist over a hip injury
- Loanee Scott Quigley who has a thigh injury
- Winger Cristian Montano who suffered a knee ligament injury
In addition to the quartet, striker Tom Pope and winger Ben Whitfield missed training after “picking up knocks.”
Aspin told the media: “You want to be picking from a full-strength squad, you always try to put out your best team, but it is just something that we are going to have to cope with and look at what team we can play for Saturday.
“But when you are trying to pick a settled team it is disappointing when you get injuries and can’t do that.”
