Former England player applies for Port Vale manager’s role, club pens blunt response
According to a segment on the TV show “A League of Their Own” Port Vale managed to produce a brutally short response to a job application by pundit Jamie Redknapp.
According to the programme, presented James Corden James Corden took it upon himself to apply for several positions on behalf of the former Liverpool, Spurs and England midfielder.
Dear Mr. Redknapp, thank you for your application. Please do not contact us again…
On the most recent episode of the show, Corden revealed that he’d submitted a job application for Redknapp to every club with a managerial vacancy and several without.
The application to take over at League Two’s Port Vale didn’t exactly go well.
Port Vale’s blunt response simply read: “Dear Mr. Redknapp, thank you for your application. Please do not contact us again.”
League One side Wycombe were more considerate replying with: “Dear Mr. Redknapp, thank you for your application for the managerial position here at Wycombe Wanderers.
“We have carefully considered your submission but due to the overwhelming success of last season’s promotion-winning side, we feel it would be unfair to remove our current manager, Gareth Ainsworth, from the post.
“However, we would love to offer you an initial three-month contract as one of our first-team coaches with the option, at the end of the trial period, to extend.
“We believe that a former player of your calibre would be a great addition to our coaching team in preparation for a new season in League One.
“Congratulations, thank you for your interest and the club secretary will be in touch in due course.”
