There is no dearth of talent in the team of Port Vale. However, the following players have been very impressive for the team over the years. Tom Pope is currently the lead forward in the team. Louis Dodds has returned to the team on loan and after playing in the team for many years now Neil Aspin is serving as the team’s manager

Tom Pope started his career as part of the Crewe Alexandra Youth Academy. He was offered a professional contract after impressing his manager Dario Gradi with his performance at non-league side Biddulph in 2004-05. He spent loan spells at Lancaster City, Stafford Rangers, and Barrow before returning to his club and establishing a name for himself there.
In 2009, Tom Pope was signed to Rotherham United for a record fee of £150,000. He came to Port Vale in 2011 and soon became the club’s star performer. From the beginning, he remained a very popular player among the Vale fans. At the end of his first campaign, he played 51 games and won the Port Vale Player of the Year award.
He played well in the 1990-91 season and was consistent with his performance in the relegation season of 1991-92. He made 46 appearances in both those seasons for his club.
In the 1992-93 season, he played 48 games and played a crucial role for his club in winning the Football League Trophy. In the final at Wembley, Aspin played well with Dean Glover and Peter Swan to win the match against Stockport County. He was also part of the team when they lost the Play-Off Final against West Bromwich Albion.
3- Louis Dodds
Louis Dodds started his career at the Leicester City Academy. In 2006, he turned professional at Leicester City. He spent loan spells at Northwich Victoria, Rochdale, and Lincoln City before he joined Port Vale in 2008.
From the very beginning, Dodds impressed everyone at Port Vale with his performance. He scored the opening goal for Vale in his very first game against Luton Town. That season of 2008-09, he scored ten goals for his club. The next season he scored 7 goals in 48 appearances.
He has also won the Mr. “Shirt off the Back” award for 3 seasons running. He was instrumental in helping his club secure promotion out of the League Two in the season 2012-13. That season, he scored 7 goals in 36 matches.
He joined Shrewsbury Town in 2016 before joining Chesterfield in 2018. The talented midfielder returned to his former club Port Vale on loan for the 2018-19 season.
Dodds said about his return, “This was the only club that I wanted to come back to. I am grateful to the manager and chairman for making it happen.”
