Good news on Tom Pope injury
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says Tom Pope is a doubt for the Lincoln City cup game but could return at the weekend.
There were fears that the striker could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a back injury against Colchester but it now appears that the injury is less serious than first thought.
If Tom Pope is not available you are losing a player who is very important to the team…
Ahead of the Lincoln game Aspin told the media: “If you look at how he sustained the injury, it was a heavy fall. He is going to be suffering from that because it was a hell of an impact. So, he is obviously going to be struggling for the game and we will have to look at what other options we have
“If Tom Pope is not available you are losing a player who is very important to the team. You are losing a goalscorer and a big presence, but you have to be able to cope when players are missing. If he can’t play then we have to look at doing something else.”
Scott Quigley, Louis Dodds and Idris Kanu could all be options for Vale against Lincoln if Pope fails to make the game.
