Rumour: Port Vale linked with permanent Ben Whitfield move
The Sentinel newspaper reports that Port Vale could seal a permanent deal for former loanee Ben Whitfield ahead of the transfer window.
Whitfield was offered a new contract by Bournemouth in the summer but hasn’t signed it – making him a free agent.
The attacking midfielder was close to joining Vale in the January transfer window after a successful start to his loan spell but the move fell through.
However, with manager Neil Aspin keen to add a creative spark upfront, it seems that Whitfield could be his preferred target.
The 22 year-old scored four goals in 37 appearances during his loan spell last season.
