Shrewsbury Town manager predicts Port Vale success next season

Shrewsbury Town manager John Askey has said Port Vale will be “strong” next season.

Askey’s side are due to face the Valiants in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Talking ahead of the game Askey told their official website: “Port Vale will be strong in their League next season.

“Because they’re playing us in the League above, it will be a competitive game. Sometimes you’re better off playing teams in the League below, rather than a team above.

“It does have a bit more of a proper game feel to it. Their players will want to be in the starting 11 as ours will be.

“It will be a good game and one that I hope we do well in.

“I think this will be the first game really where you get tested properly, which we need.”
