Neil Aspin backs new defender Theo Vassell
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says that recent signing Theo Vassell can be a success in the Football League.
Vassell joined from Aspin’s old club Gateshead after having had brief spells with League clubs in the past.
Aspin told the Sentinel: “I only worked with Theo last year at Gateshead and I must say he did really well. He was probably our best player at the time.
“But again he has had a couple of chances at league clubs which haven’t come off for him and now he really has to take this opportunity because you would have to say, sometimes in life, you don’t get too many chances.
“It won’t be through lack of trying. He is a good lad, he is honest and committed and he is local as well. He is desperate to do well.
“He has enough quality to play at this level, but you have to do it on the pitch and you have to deal with lots of other things to be a professional player, you have to deal with the pressure and the expectation as well.
“It is totally different to where he was before, but he has the attributes, he just needs to show that now in a Vale shirt.”
