David Worrall hits double as Port Vale beat Halifax in friendly
A quickfire double from David Worrall saw Port Vale come from behind to beat Halifax 3-2 in a friendly game.
Neil Aspin paired Tom Pope and Scott Quigley upfront while trialist Rory McKeown also started. Former Vale goalkeeper Sam Johnson played for Halifax.
Vale had some early chances for Pope before the home side opened the scoring when Niall Maher scored from twenty yards on the quarter-hour mark.
However, a string of quick-fire Vale goals gave the visitors the lead. Tom Pope levelled on 41 minutes and a quickfire second-half double from David Worrall (47 and 50 minutes) put the Valiants 3-1 up.
The Vale had chances to stretch their lead through Worrall, Antony Kay and Luke Hannant but to no avail.
Halifax managed a late equaliser but the Valiants held on to record a 3-2 victory. It was a useful workout for the Port Vale squad as they recorded an away win in their latest friendly game.
