Port Vale linked to Scott Brown: the regional press say that promotion winning goalkeeper Scott Brown is wanted by Port Vale FC.
Manager Neil Aspin is known to be looking for an experienced and vocal keeper after releasing Ryan Boot and transfer listing Rob Lainton.
Current first-choice, youngster Sam Hornby would then be deputy to a more experienced figure.
33-year-old Brown played every game as Wycombe won promotion to League One, but has received interest from other clubs “which better suits his home life”, said manager (and former Port Vale legend) Gareth Ainsworth.
“Scott was very honest and explained that he’s had interest from elsewhere,” added Ainsworth.
“He’s had a fantastic season for us and will always be fondly remembered not just as one of the club’s promotion-winning heroes, but as a hugely popular guy with his team-mates and with the fans.”
Brown was born in Wolverhampton and reports in the Gloucester media say he is wanted by the Valiants. With over four hundred senior appearances to his name, Brown would certainly be a valuable addition to the Vale squad.
