Rumour: Port Vale linked with Chesterfield striker
Port Vale target Kristian Dennis? The Derbyshire Times have linked Port Vale with a bid for transfer listed Chesterfield striker Kristian Dennis but they could face competition from Notts County.
Dennis scored twenty one goals last season for relegated Chesterfield but has asked to be put on the transfer list as he does not want to drop down to the National League.
Chesterfield manager Martin Allen told supporters through a statement on the club’s official website that Dennis still wanted to remain a Football League player and he had agreed to make the frontman available – for the right price.
The forward has a year left on his contract and would cost a fee but Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has been pleased that owner Norman Smurthwaite will back him in the transfer market.
The current Port Vale manager has said he requires two strikers to help out first-choice forward Tom Pope upfront.
Notts County have also been linked with a possible £100,000 move for the 28 year-old forward.
