Neil Aspin hints that Dan Turner will be given new deal
Manager Neil Aspin says that youngster Dan Turner “deserves a chance” to prove himself at the club next season.
Turner broke into the first-team with three goals at the start of the season but has found appearances harder to come by since Aspin was appointed manager. It has led to speculation that Turner may be released when his contract expires in the summer.
He is a local lad and he is a player that I will want to keep because he showed it when he came on today…
However, the Vale manager explained: “Dan Turner is a player that, when I came to the club, he had scored three goals and had done quite well at the start of the season.
“But I think with the players we had and the formation at times was one up front which is obviously not his game.
“He has not had a great time since I have been here, but he is a local lad and he is a player that I will want to keep because he showed it when he came on today.
“What he did today is all we are asking for. We are asking him to be a nuisance up front, to harry and chase. He is still learning the game and we know we have to improve but he deserves another chance.”
