Neil Aspin says there is no excuse for crowd trouble at Grimsby game
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has condemned the crowd trouble which disrupted the game at Grimsby Town.
The game was delayed in the closing stages as rival fans clashed.
There is no place for it in football. You want to have the aggression on the pitch not off it. There is no excuse for the trouble at the end…
Aspin told the media: “People of my age and my era have lived through the 1980s when football violence was rife. It was a regular occurrence when I played and nobody wants to see that return.
“There were dark days in those 1980s and it is something that nobody wants to see.
“There are more women now who come to football and you want children to come to football. Grimsby have had a lot of children here today who have been let in free.
“There is no place for it in football. You want to have the aggression on the pitch not off it. There is no excuse for the trouble at the end.”
