Match report: Port Vale 0-1 Exeter City
Vale played two upfront but were unable to find a cutting edge as their unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday evening.
Manager Neil Aspin made two changes bringing back defender Kyle Howkins and opting for two upfront by recalling Tyrone Barnett.
The Valiants got off to good start with chances for Worrall, Barnett and Pugh but the home side were unable to turn any of the opportunities into goals. The visitors made Vale pay when Storey netted on 24 minutes.
Vale almost equalised within minutes but Tyrone Barnett headed onto the crossbar.
The home side threatened again in the second-half when Raglan’s effort was cleared off the line before the defender was taken off in favour of James Gibbons.
Neil Aspin threw on two more subs and one of them, Ben Whitfield, missed a glorious chance to level matters with twenty minutes left.
Vale were made to pay for their missed chances as the visitor’s defence held firm to record a cleansheet and end Neil Aspin’s side’s recent unbeaten run.
