Neil Aspin says Dan Turner needs more game time as loan spell looms
Young Vale striker Dan Turner is set to depart on loan to a non-league side in order to gain more experience.
Turner started the season well with three goals but the 19 year-old youth team graduate has failed to break through into the starting eleven under Neil Aspin.
I think he needs more game time. He needs to play out on loan, get some 90 minute games and I think going into that level of football will help him…
Aspin told the media: “I have sat down with Dan and spoken to him because he was a player who had played in the first team before I arrived and had scored a couple of goals. But I think to be fair to Dan he has not done himself justice when he has come on as substitute while I have been here
“I think he needs more game time. He needs to play out on loan, get some 90 minute games and I think going into that level of football will help him.
“He can come back that little bit sharper, ready to challenge for a place in the team. So, we are not discarding Dan but we are hoping it is going to be beneficial for the club he goes to. It will help them and he can be challenging for a place when he comes back.”
