Defender Gavin Gunning said Port Vale deserved a win over Colchester but the side will be happy with a point.
Vale drew 1-1 on Saturday after a strong second-half performance and Gunning commented: “If you offered that on the bus on the way down we’d have snapped your hand off.
We probably should have taken the three points but in the end we are happy with the point…
“The second half dominating the way we did we probably should have taken the three points but in the end we are happy with the point.”
“Most of the lads are coming into form now.
“From now all the focus is on Coventry. We’re at home, the fans behind us, we’ll be going for the three points.”
On his own form Gunning added: “I am just hoping I am doing a good job for the team. If I aren’t then I’m sorry… I’m just happy to be playing!”
